Mae Klong Railway Market (Hoop Rom Market) is a local market in Samut Songkhram Province, commonly called Siang Tai (life-threatening) market. It is considered to be one of the great attractions of Thailand. Spread over a length of 100 meters, the market is located on the railway near Mae Klong Railway Station. It is a fresh produce market, similar to other local markets, which sells seafood, vegetables, fruit, fresh and dry foods, meats and other miscellaneous goods. But with the peculiarity of the name, "life threatening" market because its stalls are connected to the Mae Klong-Ban Laem railway, which is a short railway line to and from Mahachai and Mae Klong. The vendors at the market have umbrellas or canvases to protect themselves from the sun. Shelters stick into the railroad where visitors walk and shop. When the signal of the oncoming train rings, chaos occurs: the vendors will rush to close their parasols and their canvases, eliminating all the goods that will obstruct the oncoming train. Once the train has passed, the umbrellas and canvases will be rearranged and the goods will be placed back in their usual place next to the railway.
09: 15—09: 30 - DAMNEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET
Arrival at the pier and with a long tail boat in about 30 minutes of travel between the canals, you will reach the Floating Market.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi is one of the most popular floating markets in Thailand. Every day many Thai and foreign tourists come here to shop, eat and soak up the atmosphere of Thailand's water markets built over 100 years ago.
Klong Damnoen Saduak
Damnoen Saduak is the straightest and longest canal in Thailand. The canal was built on royal initiative as Thailand's King Rama IV wanted to connect the Mae Klong River with the Chinese river routes to support transportation and trade. It took over 2 years to excavate, and was eventually completed under the reign of his successor King Rama V. The canal is 32 kilometers long and has more than 200 branches.
The popularity of the Damnoen Saduak floating market grew to new heights in 1971 - 1973, when the river was filled with farmers on their boats selling their wares. And this is how the trade is done in this area to this day.
12:00 - 12:30 - Stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
13:30 Approx. Arrive at the AMPAWA Floating Market.
Amphawa Floating Market is one of the most beautiful floating markets in Thailand, old and very popular with tourists. This floating market is also one of the main tourist attractions in Samut Songkhram. Because it is not far from Bangkok, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday the market will be crowded with tourists, especially locals, who come to enjoy canal views or taste some delicious food. All visitors can purchase fish, Thai desserts or souvenirs for friends and family. Additionally, visitors can take a boat ride to take in views and lifestyles along the Amphawa Canal.
During the Ampawa Canal Tour, a stop at WAT BAN KUNG is a must
This temple is arguably the most iconic in the Amphawa district, known for its banyan tree roots and branches that have surrounded and blocked the building over the centuries, it houses a golden Buddha. The building dates back to the Ayutthaya period. It is externally and internally quite simple. The word Lipe comes from the language of the Urak Lawoi people meaning a sheet of paper because the island has a flat area and no high mountains. It is located about 2 kilometres south of ko Adang. The highlight of Ko Lipe is the nature of the coral surrounding the island, beautiful bays, and soft sandy beaches. The main beaches comprise: - Hat Pattaya or Hat Banda Ya has a concave shape and fine white sand. It is the busiest beach because it is full of facilities for tourists, e.g., walking streets, resorts, restaurants, transfer points for passenger boats, and excursion boats to different islands. - Hat Sunrise or Hat Chao Le is a beach where you can watch the beautiful sunrise with fine white sand. Accommodation is available including the location of Chao Le or the Urak Lawoi community. Most of them are engaged in local fishing. When HRH Princess Sirindhorn came to Ko Lipe, she bestowed the surname to the villagers as Han Thale. Old cultural traditions of the Urak Lawoi people include the floating tradition Per La Chak, which is held 2 times during the 13th -15th evening of the sixth lunar month (May) and the 12th lunar month (November). The villagers build a boat based on the belief that it is to float away suffering and misfortunes from the community. - Hat Sunset is where visitors can watch the beautiful sunset in an uncrowded atmosphere. It is quite peaceful, has privacy, and it is suitable for swimming.
