BANGKOK: AYUTTHAYA. Bang Pa In, Ayutthaya, (L.)
Departure on a private basis at about 07:30.
Meeting with the guide and departure for the discovery of the ancient capital of Thailand. Lunch is served in a local restaurant.
Indicative program
07.30 About Meeting with the Guide in the lobby of the Hotel.
09:00 About BANG PA IN
A short 60 kilometer (40 mile) journey north of Bangkok, along the banks of the Chaopraya River, will take you to Bang Pa In, the summer palace of the kings of Thailand. The palace dates back to the seventeenth century, pre-dating of the settlement of Bangkok as its capital, although it has fallen into disuse for a long time. All the buildings you will see date back to his awakening by King Mongkut (Rama IV) in the nineteenth century. Today, the palace is used only rarely, and therefore mostly for state occasions rather than as a royal summer residence.
The building is very European in design. The buildings are arranged along an artificial ornamental pond. In what was previously the public area of the building, the lake is a long rectangular swimming pool, lines with formal plantations and strange madness. The most obvious of the ornaments is a modern copy of a Khmer style.
11:30 am Around AYUTTHAYA HISTORICAL PARK
Founded around 1350, Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai.
It flourished from the 14th to the 18th centuries, during which it became one of the largest and most cosmopolitan urban areas in the world and a center of diplomacy and global trade. Ayutthaya was strategically located on an island surrounded by three rivers that connected the city to the sea. This site was chosen because it was above the Gulf of Siam tide as it existed at the time, thus preventing the attack of the city by maritime warships from other nations. The location also helped protect the city from seasonal floods.
The city was attacked and razed to the ground by the Burmese army in 1767 which set the city on fire and forced the inhabitants to abandon the city. The city was never rebuilt in the same location and today it is known as a vast archaeological site.
Nestled on the island framed by three significant rivers: Chao Phraya, Lopburi and Pasak, the historic temples, palaces and remaining architecture of the ancient kingdom of Ayutthaya are one of Thailand's most valuable historical sites. The 715-acre area has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1991 as it portrays the days of one of the greatest kingdoms in Indochina history. The strengths of the park include the temples Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Phra Mahathat, all easily visited on foot or by bicycle. Between 12:00 and 12:30 stop for lunch in a local restaurant.
15: 30-16: 00 Check in at the Hotel. Evening free for own activities

Day 2

AYUTTHAYA - LOPBURI - BANGKOK. Return cruise to BANGKOK, lunch on board
Meeting with the Guide at about 08:30.
09.30 About LOPBURI
Better known as the city of monkeys, Lop Buri was initially transformed into a large city during the era of the reign of Dvaravati (6th-11th century) when Indian culture was influential in the region. Located on Vichayen Road, about 200 meters from the railway station, Phra Prang Sam Yot is the provincial landmark and symbol of Lop Buri. A former Hindu shrine built in the 13th century in the classic Bayon style of Khmer architecture, the complex includes three Prangs (towers) connected by corridors. It is believed that the three laterite and sandstone spiers, each decorated with classical stucco, originally represented the Hindu Trimurti; Brahma (the Creator), Vishnu (the Conservative) and Shiva (the Destroyer).
During the reign of King Narai, the shrine was transformed into a Buddhist temple and a brick hall was built to the east to house a large Thong-style Buddha image. Buddha images were later added to the two Prangs.
1:00 p.m. CRUISE WITH LUNCH
13:15 Welcome aboard the Grand Pearl Cruise Liner at Wat Chong-lom Pier (Nonthaburi). A sumptuous buffet lunch will be served with a choice of varieties of oriental and western cuisine, while you can relax and enjoy the fascinating scenery on the river of the kings. The cruiser will then head to Nontaburi, beyond Koh Kred, the monn community before reaching the city of Bangkok.
15:00. The coffee will be served while you enjoy the enchanting views along the banks of the river such as the colorful Royal Barges House, the Thammasart University, the Siriraj hospital, the Royal Grand Palace and the graceful Temple of Aurora, with its magnificent spire at 79 M., next to Wat Kallayanamitr, one of the most famous temples.
