BANGKOK: KANCHANABURI, BRIDGE, WAR MUSEUM, ALLIED CEMETERY, TRAIN RIDING, MUANG SING HISTORICAL PARK - FULL DAY (L.)

Day 1

Available every day. Departure on a Private Base at approximately 06:30.
Meeting with the Guide and departure for the visit of Kanchanaburi, including the War Museum, the Allied Cemetery, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Route by Train, Lunch. Prasat Muang Singh Historical Park.

INDICATIVE ITINERARY:
06:30 Meeting with the Guide and Departure for Kanchanaburi, with expected arrival around 09:30. Start of visits
Kanchanaburi is a city in the western part of Thailand. It is known for the death railway, built during the Second World War. The line crosses the Khwae Yai River via the Death Railway Bridge. Exhibits at the JEATH War Museum honor the prisoners of war who died building the bridge. The Thailand-Burma Railway Center explores the broader history of the railway. Nearby, thousands of Allied soldiers are buried in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.

10:45 am - Board the train for a scenic route, up to Tham Krasae. Stop for lunch, and time to visit the area with the Tham Krasae Bridge next to the cave of the same name. In this area the train slows to a crawl as it crosses the precarious-looking bridge known as the Wang Pho Viaduct. A wall of rock towers sits a short distance to the right, with a sheer drop into the river and phenomenal views to the left, another highlight of the trip.

After lunch visit the Prasat Muang Singh Historical Park
Explore the traces of the once thriving Khmer Kingdom in one of Thailand's best-known Khmer-style religious structures. Historians have estimated that Prasat Mueang Singh, and its surrounding architecture on the bank of the Kwai Noi River, was built between 857 and 1157 as a religious temple of the Khmer kingdom. Prasat Mueang Singh was later abandoned until the reign of King Rama I when the Mueang Singh area became one of the border towns of Kanchanaburi. The restoration of the structures, however, was not completed until 1987.
The main remaining structure is the Prasat Mueang Sing (Tower of the City of Lions) itself, a Khmer-style architecture with influences from the arts of Lop Buri. It is framed by city walls of 800 x 1,500 meters. During the excavations, historians have found valuable artifacts, antiques, pottery and religious ornaments with over 2,000 years of history.

Departure to Bangkok at 3:00 pm, arriving at the hotel between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm
