At 07:00 am, meeting with the guide in English and transfer to the pier for boarding a motor launch that will take us to Ruam Mitr along the Kok river, with visits to the ethnic minorities Karen and Lahu. The Karen village of Ruammit which is located on the banks of the Nam Mae Kok (river Mae Kok) is famous for its elephants, with a long tradition of training and deforestation and remains distinctly of the Karen ethnic group, preserving its culture and its traditions. Today it has become one of the major tourist attractions on both the Nam Mae Kok and Chiang Rai province. Ruam Mitr can be reached in 1 hour by boat from the provincial capital of Chiang Rai province and boats leave at regular intervals from the Chiang Rai pier.
Then we will start the journey that takes us to Chiang Mai, during which we cannot miss a visit to the White Temple or Wat Rong Khun, one of the many religious places in Chiang Rai created by the famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kosipipat.
For the exceptional quality of the art and the extremely elaborate architecture, the consecrated hall for the assemblies of Wat Rong Khun is different from any other temple having both apices of the carved pediment and tooth-shaped ridges. The room itself is mostly built in pure white, which represents the purity of the Buddha. The gleaming clear mirror glass refers to the wisdom of the Awakened that shines on the earth and the universe.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant along the way.
Once in Chiang Mai we complete the day dedicated to the temples with the most famous in Chiang Mai: Wat Pratat Doi Suthep, located on a mountain from the top of which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the hilly area of Chiang Mai.
Built in the early 19th century Buddhist (we are now in the 26th), the beauty of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is marked by seven-headed serpent statues flanking the stairs to the temple where there is a golden Chiang style pagoda Saen and all his exquisite Lanna architecture.
The view of Chiang Mai from here is simply phenomenal.
