Day 2

DAY 2 - BANGKOK Maeklong Railway, Damnoen Saduak, Lunch, Royal Palace, Wat Pho, (B.L.)

Breakfast at the hotel. At 06:30-07:00, meet with the guide and depart for a day of visiting some of the main attractions in and around this metropolis. We head to the nearby provinces of Song Khram and Ratchaburi, about 100 km from Bangkok. We start with the Maeklong Railway Market (Hoop Rom Market), commonly known as the Siang Tai market (life-risking market). It is considered one of Thailand's fantastic attractions. Stretching over a length of 100 meters, the market is located on the railway near the Mae Klong railway station. Then, we proceed to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, where we arrive at the pier and take a long-tail boat for about 30 minutes through the canals to reach the floating market. The Damnoen Saduak market in Ratchaburi is one of the most popular floating markets in Thailand. Every day, many Thai and foreign tourists come here to shop, eat, and soak up the atmosphere of the Thai water markets built over a hundred years ago. Around 11:00 AM, depart to return to Bangkok with a stop at a local restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue with the Royal Palace, founded in 1782, which includes not only royal halls and throne rooms but also numerous government offices and the famous Emerald Buddha Temple. It covers an area of 218,000 square meters and is surrounded by four walls, 1900 meters in length. Then, we visit the adjacent Wat Pho, which is not only one of Bangkok's most visited Buddhist temples but also a combination of history, medical science, and educational institute. Wat Pho was founded during the 16th century and later became the Royal Temple of King Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty. In 2008, Wat Pho was designated a UNESCO Memory of the World (MOW) for documentary heritage for Asia and the Pacific region. Return to the hotel is expected between 17:00-17:30.

IMPORTANT

• Please dress appropriately, covering shoulders and knees

• Please bring your passport, often required for entrance checks

Day 3

DAY 3 - BANGKOK - KANCHANABURI, River Kwai: War Museum, Allied Cemetery, Train Riding, Prasat Muang Singh. (B.L.)

Breakfast at the hotel. 06:30 Meet with the Guide and Departure to Kanchanaburi, with an estimated arrival around 09:30. Start of visits. Kanchanaburi is a city in western Thailand. It is known for the Death Railway, built during World War II. The line crosses the Khwae Yai River over the Death Railway Bridge. Exhibits at the JEATH War Museum honor the prisoners of war who died building the bridge. The Thailand-Burma Railway Centre explores the broader history of the railway. Nearby, thousands of Allied soldiers are buried in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. 10:45 - Board the train for a scenic journey to Tham Krasae. Stop for lunch and time to visit the area with Tham Krasae Bridge next to the cave of the same name. In this area, the train slows to a crawl as it crosses the precarious-looking viaduct known as Wang Pho Viaduct. A wall of rock towers a short distance to the right, with a sheer drop to the river and phenomenal views on the left, another highlight of the journey. After lunch, visit the Prasat Muang Singh Historical Park, where we find traces of the Khmer Kingdom, once thriving, in one of Thailand's most well-known religious structures. Historians have estimated that Prasat Mueang Singh, and its surrounding architectures on the banks of the Kwai Noi River, were built between 857 and 1157 as a religious temple of the Khmer kingdom. Later, the temple was abandoned until the reign of King Rama I when the Mueang Singh area became one of Kanchanaburi's border towns. However, restoration of the structures was not completed until 1987. The main remaining structure is the Prasat Mueang Sing (the City of Lions Tower), a Khmer-style architecture with influences from the arts of Lop Buri. It is framed by city walls of 800 x 1,500 meters. During excavations, historians found valuable artifacts, antiques, ceramics, and religious ornaments with over 2000 years of history. Around 15:00 Transfer to Hotel. Check-In. Rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 4

DAY 4 - KANCHANABURI: Erawan National Park - AYUTTHAYA (B.L.)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Meet the guide around 08:30, and we'll head for a visit to Erawan National Park. Upon arrival at Erawan waterfalls, we'll begin our exploration. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes suitable for a short hike, bringing along your swimsuit, and towels. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant or in a takeaway format. Erawan National Park holds significant importance as one of Thailand's major national parks. Located in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, the park has received numerous awards, the most prestigious being the award in the category of natural attractions at the sixth Thailand Tourism Industry Awards in 2006. Here, you will discover Kanchanaburi's largest and most scenic waterfall, Erawan Waterfall, which flows from the high mountain at 2,100 meters above sea level, originating from the Huai Mong Lai River. The waterfall stretches for a length of 1,500 meters and comprises seven tiers, each offering spacious and safe swimming and relaxation areas. Additionally, you can take a 30-minute walk along the Erawan nature trail to appreciate the beauty of the lush evergreen hills and deciduous forests. Around 15:00 - 15:30, we'll begin our journey to Ayutthaya, with an estimated travel time of 3-3.5 hours. Subsequently, you'll check-in at the hotel for overnight stay. Evening at leisure.

Day 5

DAY 5 - AYUTTHAYA - NAKHON SAWAN Ayutthaya Historical Park, Ang Thong Wat Muang & Wat Sang Kratai (B.L) 170 KM

Breakfast at the hotel. At 07:00, meet with the Italian-speaking guide and depart for a beautiful day of visits to Thailand's ancient capitals. We begin with the Ayutthaya Historical Park; the city was founded around 1350 and became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai. It flourished from the 14th to the 18th century, during which it became one of the world's largest and most cosmopolitan urban areas and a center of diplomacy and global trade. Ayutthaya was strategically located on an island surrounded by three rivers that connected the city to the sea. This site was chosen because it was above the Gulf of Siam's tide as it existed at that time, thus preventing the city from being attacked by maritime warships from other nations. Continuation to Ang Thong, where we visit Wat Muang temple. This temple located in Ang Thong, about ten kilometers from the city center, is best known for its huge seated golden Buddha towering 95 meters high. It is the tallest in the country. The curiosity here is the Buddha's right hand that visitors can touch from a small stage below, making them appear tiny, and Wat Sang Kratai temple, an ancient temple surrounded by a Bodhi tree, the Enlightenment tree. Lunch is served at a local restaurant during the excursion. Check-in at the hotel in Nakhon Sawan is scheduled between 17:30-18:15.

Day 6

DAY 6 - NAKHON SAWAN – PHITSANULOK - SUKHOTHAI. Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahatat, Sukhothai Historical Park. (B.L.). 190 Km

Breakfast at the hotel. At 08:00, meet with the Italian-speaking guide and depart for Phitsanulok, with an estimated arrival around 10:30. We'll visit the famous temple Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahatat. The Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, also known as "Wat Yai," houses the Chinarat Buddha, a statue considered the most beautiful in Thailand. The Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat is a temple with a long and priceless history. A sacred place that endures over time. Phra At tharot is a statue image of standing Buddha in an attempt to persuade relatives not to quarrel, standing at a height of 9 meters, it was built during the same period as the Chinarat Buddha. The Buddha in Nirvana is an ancient relic from Ayutthaya. It is considered a masterpiece of Buddha, and probably the only one in Thailand. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, around 14:00-14:30, we arrive at Sukhothai Historical Park. The Park is open daily and also offers a tram service as well as bicycles for rent to explore the vast area. Main points of interest include: The City Walls located in the center of the Historical Park and surrounded by ramparts. The rectangular-shaped city measures 1330 meters in width and 1800 meters in length. The walls contain four main gates. An inscription on the stone mentions that King Ramkhamhaeng placed a bell on one of the gates. If his subjects needed help, they could ring the bell, and the King would come out to make decisions on disputes and dispense justice. Inside the city, there are 35 monuments including Buddhist temples and many other structures, including The Royal Palace and Wat Mahathat. Arrival at the hotel in Sukhothai is expected between 17:30 and 18:15. Overnight stay.

Day 7

DAY 7 - SUKHOTHAI - SRI SATCHANALAI - PHAYAO - Si Satchanalai Historical Park, Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkol Khiri, Vonburi House, Phayao Lake (B.L.) 320 Km

At 07:00, meet with the local guide, depart for Chiang Rai, with pleasant stops along the way. Si Satchanalai Historical Park is located on the bank of the Yorm River. The ancient city, formally called Muang Chaliang, was renamed Si Satchanalai during the reign of Phra Ruang when a new administrative center was established to replace Chailang. The ruins of 134 monuments have been discovered within this park. Although not an ancient temple, Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkol Khiri has beautiful architecture inspired by the traditional style, such as the Ubosot (Celebration Hall), and the Lanna style, with a Teak building. The Vonburi House, built in Teak, was constructed at the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th in European colonial style, and today it's an interesting museum house, very well preserved. Lunch break at a local restaurant. Phayao Lake is very popular among local tourists and is also an important fishing resource. In the early morning, fishermen go out and return by mid-morning to replenish the lakefront restaurants, preparing for another day of dining, prominently featuring grilled lake fish, of course. The lakeside is a popular recreational area with afternoon aerobics classes, families picnicking, couples strolling in the evening along the lakeside walkway amidst cafes and adjacent restaurants. Here, various optional activities are available (not included in the quotation, to be paid directly on-site) including renting a boat to coast along the waters to Wat Tilokarum, or renting a bicycle to roam around the lake. Arrival at the hotel around 18:00-18:30. Check-in and assignment of reserved rooms. Evening at leisure.

Day 8

DAY 8 - PHAYAO - CHIANG RAI (B.L.) 170 Km (Phayao-Doi Tung)

At 07:00, meet with the Italian-speaking guide, depart for Chiang Rai, with pleasant stops along the way. Today's exploration of this province, the northernmost in Thailand, begins with a visit to Doi Tung, where the Mae Fah Luang Gardens and the Queen Mother's Teak House are located. Mae Fah Luang Garden is adorned with roses, dahlias, and tulips, arranged in European-style flower beds. Scattered throughout the garden are fountains, rock art, wooden structures, and a small evergreen maze. Some areas of the park are also dedicated to traditional tropical plants and flowers, including a fern house, an orchid house, and a night garden. There's also a special cactus house. We continue to the Choui Fon Tea Plantation, one of the largest tea producers in Chiang Rai city, located atop a hill with panoramic views of the surrounding fields. There's a tea shop and restaurant on-site with expansive views of the rolling hills and distant mountains. It's a modern, clean, and finely designed building with a terrace and large windows opening onto the panoramic view. There are numerous open fields to cross and a menu with a wide selection of teas to choose from. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, return to the city and transfer to the pier for boarding a speedboat that will take us along the Kok River to Ruam Mitr, with a visit to the Karen and Lahu ethnic minorities. The Karen village of Ruammit, located on the banks of the Nam Mae Kok (Mae Kok River), is famous for its elephants, with a long tradition of training and logging and remains distinctly Karen ethnicity, retaining its culture and traditions. Today, it has become one of the major tourist attractions both on the Nam Mae Kok and in the province of Chiang Rai. In the early evening, arrive at the selected hotel and check-in to reserved rooms. Overnight stay at a hotel in Chiang Rai. Arrival in Chiang Rai around 18:00-18:30. Check-in at the reserved hotel. Evening at leisure.

Day 9

DAY 9 - CHIANG RAI - CHIANG MAI. Golden Triangle, Wat Phra That Pu Khao, Opium Museum, White Temple, Mae Krachan, (B.L.) 180 Km Breakfast. Today we begin exploration of this province, the northernmost in Thailand, starting with the famous Golden Triangle, the point where the borders of Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, and Laos meet. The visit includes Wat Phra That Pu Khao which offers a wonderful view of the Golden Triangle, the Mekong River, and the wooded mountains. Two large multi-headed Naga serpents at the bottom of the stairs guard the temple. We continue with the Opium Museum, which exhibits and educates visitors about opium production and its use in the lives of hill tribe populations, from which we can learn a great deal about the history of opium from when it developed in this infamous location. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. En route to Chiang Mai, we make a stop at the famous White Temple, Wat Rong Khun, one of the many religious sites in Chiang Rai. Created out of the great devotion of the renowned Thai artist Chalermchai Kosipipat, the temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha with the intention of building a paradise attainable on earth that represents justice and encourages good karma. We also stop at the Mae Krachan Hot Springs. Arrival in Chiang Mai in the evening between 17:00 and 17:30. Check-in at the reserved hotel. Evening at leisure.
