Day 1
DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN CHIANG MAI - ARRIVAL – DOI SUTHEP, CITY TEMPLES, MONKS' CHANTING. (L.) Arrival at Chiang Mai airport. Meeting with the guide and transfer to the hotel. At 12:00, meet the guide and transfer to the restaurant for lunch. The visit to Chiang Mai cannot begin without its most famous temple, Wat Pratat Doi Suthep, located on a mountain from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the hilly area of Chiang Mai. Built in the early years of the Buddhist 19th century (we are now in the 26th), the beauty of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is marked by seven-headed snake statues flanking the stairs to the temple, where there is a golden pagoda in Chiang Saen style and all its exquisite Lanna architecture. The view of Chiang Mai from here is simply phenomenal. We return to the city where the past is not just composed of tales and old musty history books; it is a very real part of everyday life. The city is defined by a 600-year-old moat, sits in the shadow of a monastery built in the 14th century, and is dotted with temples built by kings in past centuries. In ancient times, kings built temples to demonstrate not only their devotion but also their wealth and power. Temples served not only as centers of faith but also as schools and hospitals. Today, temples are still a central part of Thai life, and the sacred structures of Chiang Mai are living, breathing places, invaluable bridges to the past, keeping people connected to the timeless traditions of their ancestors. The visit includes Wat Pra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, and Wat Chiang Man. During the visit, we will also have the opportunity to observe the monks chanting their prayers perfectly in unison, resonating throughout the hall and making the experience truly spiritual. Return to the hotel is scheduled for around 5:30 PM.
Day 2
DAY 2 - CHIANG MAI - CHIANG RAI VIA CHIANG DAO-TATHON – Orchids, Elephants, Chiang Dao Cave, Wat Tha Ton, Long-Neck Women. (B.L.) Breakfast at the hotel. 07:00 Meeting with the Italian-speaking guide. Departure for Chiang Rai, following the old trade route via Tathon. Along the way, stops are planned to visit an Orchid Farm, admire an elephant show, the Chiang Dao caves, the Tathon temple with a beautiful panorama of the Kok River valley. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit a village of Long-Neck Women. Arrival in Chiang Rai is expected around 5:30 PM. ORCHID AND BUTTERFLY FARM Close to each other in the Mae Rim district, there is a group of four orchid farms offering the opportunity to witness the beauty of various types of orchids and colorful butterflies. Among the four, Sai Nam Phueng Farm is the largest orchid farm in Chiang Mai, while the other three: Mae Rim Orchid, Suan Bua Mae Sa, and Bai Orchid & Butterfly also offer different varieties and settings. MAE TANG ELEPHANT PARK MaeTaeng Elephant Park was founded in 1989 following the ban on tree cutting in Thai forests. Seeing an increasing number of elephants forced to wander the streets of the city and return to work in the illegal logging trade, the Chailert family, with no previous experience working with elephants, decided to create a safe and friendly working environment that visitors to the Kingdom could help support by visiting MaeTaeng Elephant Park. In 2009, the park took on a different significance when the Chailert family realized that to ensure the long-term sustainability of domesticated elephant herds, apart from the LamPang Elephant Hospital, it needed to be equipped with a fully authorized clinic staffed with full-time veterinary personnel, including an experienced veterinarian and a Mahout expert with extensive knowledge of natural medicinal herbs and elephant behavior, which can only be achieved through a close and uninterrupted bond. With the help of various volunteer groups and volunteers along with several local companies, we were able to create a proper clinical infrastructure, and today we have a fully operational FREE clinic. KAREN LONG NECK (LONG-NECK WOMEN) The Long Neck people are part of the Karen ethnic group. They are called Padaung. It is believed that they originally came from Yunnan province, central China. Later, in 1000 AD, according to history, they migrated to the Salween River basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were about 25,000 Padaung living in Myanmar, primarily engaged in traditional agricultural activities. After persecutions against minorities in Myanmar, the Padaungs were evacuated and scattered throughout the area, coexisting with other minorities to be protected.
Day 3
DAY 3 - CHIANG RAI - CHIANG MAI VIA DOI SAKET – Golden Triangle, Boat on the Maekong, Don Sao Village, White Temple, Mae Krachan Hot Spring. (B.L.) Breakfast at the hotel. 07:30 Meeting with the Italian-speaking guide. The day includes a visit to the Golden Triangle, a long-tail boat trip on the Maekong River, and a visit to Don Sao Village in Laos. After lunch, departure for Chiang Mai following the Doi Saket route, with planned stops at the famous Wat Rongkhun (White Temple) and the Mae Krachan hot springs. Arrival in Chiang Mai is expected by 7:00 PM. GOLDEN TRIANGLE The wonder of the Golden Triangle is the opportunity to visit three countries – Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos – in one place. Located 9 kilometers north of Chiang Saen along the road that follows the Mekong River, Sop Ruak is the point where the Mekong River, the border between Thailand and Laos, meets the Ruak River, the border between Thailand and Myanmar. In the past, the Golden Triangle was the world's main source of drug trafficking due to its privileged position. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can admire the land that connects the three countries, surrounded by a tranquil waterway. In Sop Ruak, you can rent boats to explore the panorama of the Golden Triangle (not included in the quotation). The trip lasts only 20 minutes. There are various viewpoints to take photos with a spectacular backdrop. Another interesting activity is the respect of Phra Chiang Saen Si Phaendin or Phra Buddha Nawa Lan Tue, a magnificent bronze image of the Buddha sitting outdoors on a large boat called Rua Kaew Kusoltham. It is particularly impressive in the sunlight. Additionally, there are several souvenir shops for shopping. WAT RONG KHUN Wat Rong Khun is one of the many religious sites in Chiang Rai. Born from the great devotion of the famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kosipipat, the temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha with the intent of creating a paradise on earth that represents justice and good karma. The main hall of Wat Rong Khun is unique for its elaborate architecture, characterized by carved gables and tooth-shaped crests. Built in pure white, the hall symbolizes the purity of the Buddha. The shimmering glass mirror represents the wisdom of the Enlightened One, illuminating the earth and the universe. Additionally, the sophisticated murals by Chalermchai himself enrich the visitor's experience.
