ELEPHANT EXPERIENCE

The journey to Thongsuk Elephant Sanctuary will take guests a short 20 minutes from Our Jungle Camp. Upon arrival, your host will brief you about the history and value of Elephants in Thai Culture, along with the general guidelines on interaction and safety to be practiced among these kind-natured creatures. Your local English speaking hosts draw from over three generations of experience, working and living with the famous Asian Elephants.

After a short briefing, you will be introduced to your thick-skinned companion. To bond with the animal thoroughly, you will prepare and feed a healthy mix of Elephant Cakes, Banana, and Pineapple, before walking your new friend to the skin-caring mudbath. Where both you and the Elephant can tend to each other’s skins. After a quick shower, for you and your thick skinned comapnion, there is plenty of time for pictures. You can have a shower at the provided compartments before you wave your goodbye to your new friend and return to Our Jungle Camp in Khao Sok.

All Elephants at the Sanctuary are retired and rescued individuals from the logging and entertainment industries, who now spend their well-deserved retirement at the extensive grounds of the Elephant Sanctuary. Our Jungle Camp in Khao Sok follows a strict No Riding Policy! Despite the widespread discussion of Elephant Tourism in Thailand, we as an Eco-Tourism business, feel responsible for supporting sustainable Elephant Camps and Sanctuaries to maintain the well being of the domesticated elephant population in Thailand.

HALF DAY HALF NIGHT HIKE

Make the most of your time in Khao Sok with Our Jungle Resorts Half Day – Half Night Adventure into Khao Sok National Park. This afternoon to evening tour is the perfect option for the active visitor, who wants to experience Khao Sok National Park during the day and night. This tour option also includes a Bambook Cooking, during which you will learn from Our Jungle Guides about how to cook a 3 course dinner meal over an open fire in bamboo tubes.

You will meet your guide at 4:00 pm and will be able to re-use your National Park entrance fees, we recommend bringing a change of clothes as the river always invites for a swim. Depending on your fitness level, you will hike between 4 to 8 km, along the way forage for leaves, herbs and other materials to set up your temporary campsite amidst the Jungle of Khao Sok. Help your guide start a fire and prepare the ingredients to be cooked in Bamboo Tubes, you will be amazed by the different Thai dishes and dessert. The cooking takes around 1.5 hours and you can enjoy the wait on the river’s edge, overlooking the gentle stream, surrounded by the mighty forest. As night settles in you will be hosted for a unique 3 course dinner, served in Bamboo, before you will embark on your way back towards the Khao Sok National Park entrance.

On the way you will find the forest more alive than during the day and if lucky you will be able to spot a broad variety of nocturnal wildlife, during the so called Night Safari. The most commonly found animals include different kinds of spiders over lizards and other small animals. You should not be surprised to find the most colorful birds sleeping peacefully in the trees, while Macaques or Langur Monkeys have set up camp in the tall bamboo. If you are lucky, spot the cute Slow Loris or Civet Cat while silently exploring the smaller trails of the Khao Sok rainforest. The tour usually ends at around 09:00pm back at Our Jungle Resorts reception.

If you are planning to bring your family, we can arrange this exciting activity for all age ranges, with options to conduct Jungle Cooking at Our Jungle Resorts and the Night Safari on our onsite Forest Trails, as Jungle Experience for our  younger guests or visitors with disabilities.
