DAY 1 BANGKOK – AYUTTHAYA Maeklong Railway Market, Damnoen Saduak, Ayutthaya Historical Park (B.L.)
Total Distance: approx. 260 km
Breakfast at the hotel.
At 06:30–07:00, meet your Italian-speaking guide and depart for a full-day excursion to the provinces of Samut Songkhram and Ratchaburi, located about 100 km from Bangkok.
First stop at the famous Maeklong Railway Market, also known as the “risk-your-life market”, where stalls retract within seconds to let the train pass through. It is one of the most unique and photographed spots in Thailand.
Continue to Damnoen Saduak, the country’s most iconic floating market.
Arrival at the pier and long-tail boat ride through the canals (approx. 30 minutes) to reach the heart of the market.
Here, you will witness the lively trade of fruits, vegetables, and local specialties carried out from boat to boat.
Around 11:00 AM, depart for Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam.
Lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
In the afternoon, visit the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Founded around 1350, Ayutthaya was once one of the most prosperous and cosmopolitan cities in Asia, strategically located on an island surrounded by three rivers.
Main visits include:
Wat Mahathat – famous for the Buddha head entwined in tree roots
Wat Phra Sri Sanphet – the most important temple of the ancient royal city, with its three majestic chedis
Wat Lokayasutharam – home to a massive 42-meter-long reclining Buddha
Wat Chaiwatthanaram – a stunning Khmer-style riverside temple with panoramic views
Hotel check-in is expected between 5:30 PM and 6:15 PM.
Day 2
DAY 2 - AYUTTHAYA – ANG THONG – SUKHOTHAI. (B.L.). Wat Muang & Wat Sang Kratai temples, Sukhothai Historical Park. Breakfast at the hotel. At 07:00, meet the guide and proceed to Ang Thong, where we visit Wat Muang Temple. This temple, located in Ang Thong, about ten kilometers from the city center, is best known for its enormous seated golden Buddha, standing 95 meters tall. It is the tallest in the country. Of particular interest here is the Buddha's right hand, which visitors can touch from a small stage, making them appear tiny underneath it, and Wat Sang Kratai Temple, an ancient temple surrounded by a Bodhi tree, the tree of Enlightenment. At 09:30, depart for Sukhothai, with a stop at a local restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, around 14:00-14:30, we arrive at Sukhothai Historical Park. The park is open daily and offers tram services as well as bicycle rentals to explore the vast area. Main points of interest include the city walls located in the center of the Historical Park and surrounded by bastions. The rectangular-shaped city measures 1330 meters in width and 1800 meters in length. The walls contain four main gates. An inscription on the stone mentions that King Ramkhamhaeng placed a bell on one of the gates. If his subjects needed help, they could ring the bell, and the King would come out to make decisions on disputes and dispense justice. Within the city, there are 35 monuments including Buddhist temples and many other structures, including the Royal Palace and Wat Mahathat. Arrival at the hotel in Sukhothai is expected between 17:30 and 18:15. Overnight stay.
Day 3
DAY 3 - SUKHOTHAI - SRI SATCHANALAI - PHAYAO - CHIANG RAI Si Satchanalai Historical Park, Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkol Khiri, Vonburi House, Phayao Lake (B.L.) 400 Km 07:00 Meet with the Guide and departure for Chiang Rai, with pleasant stops along the way. Si Satchanalai Historical Park is situated on the bank of the Yorm River. The ancient city, formerly called Muang Chaliang, was renamed Si Satchanalai during the reign of Phra Ruang when a new administrative center was established to replace Chailang. The ruins of 134 monuments have been discovered within this park. Although not an ancient temple, Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkol Khiri has beautiful architecture inspired by traditional style, such as the Ubosot (ordination hall), and Lanna style with a teak building. The Vonburi House, built in teak, was constructed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in European colonial style, and today is an interesting, well-preserved museum house. Lunch break at a local restaurant. Phayao Lake is very popular among local tourists and is also an important fishing resource. Early in the morning, fishermen go out and return by mid-morning to supply the lakefront restaurants, which will prepare for another day of catering, with grilled lake fish naturally dominating the menu. The lakeside is a popular recreational area with afternoon aerobics classes, families picnicking, and couples strolling in the evening, moving along the promenade among cafes and adjacent restaurants. Here, various activities are possible (not included in the quotation, to be paid directly on-site), including renting a boat to cruise the waters to Wat Tilokarum, or renting a bicycle to wander around the lake. Arrival in Chiang Rai around 18:00-18:30. Check-in at the reserved hotel. Evening at leisure.
Day 4
DAY 4 - CHIANG RAI - CHIANG MAI. Golden Triangle, Wat Phra That Pu Khao, Opium Museum, White Temple, Mae Krachan, (B.L.) 320 Km Breakfast. Today we begin the exploration of this northernmost province of Thailand, starting from the famous Golden Triangle, the point where the borders of Myanmar (ancient Burma), Thailand, and Laos meet. The visit includes Wat Phra That Pu Khao, which offers a wonderful view of the Golden Triangle, the Mekong River, and the wooded mountains. Two large multi-headed Naga serpents at the bottom of the staircase protect the temple. We continue with the Opium Museum, which exhibits and educates visitors about opium production and its use in the lives of tribal hill populations. From the visit, we can learn much about the history of opium from when it developed in this infamous location. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Along the way to Chiang Mai, we stop at the famous White Temple, Wat Rong Khun, one of the numerous religious sites in Chiang Rai. Created by the great devotion of the famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kosipipat, the temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha with the intention of building an attainable paradise on earth representing justice and encouragement of good karma. We also stop at the Mae Krachan Hot Springs. Arrival in Chiang Mai in the evening between 17:00 and 17:30. Check-in at the reserved hotel. Evening at leisure.
Day 5
06 NOV – CHIANG MAI – Doi Suthep. Loy Kratong Yi Peng Festival (B.L.)
Breakfast at the hotel.
At 08:00 AM, meet your Italian-speaking guide and complete the city visits with Chiang Mai’s most iconic temple: Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, located atop a mountain offering a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and the city below.
Built in the early 19th Buddhist century (we are now in the 26th), Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is renowned for its beauty, highlighted by the seven-headed naga (serpent) statues flanking the staircase that leads to the temple. Inside, you will find a golden pagoda in Chiang Saen style and exquisite Lanna architecture. The view of Chiang Mai from here is simply breathtaking.
Return to the hotel around 12:30 PM for some time to relax.
Afternoon: Free time to prepare for the grand evening celebration.
At 14:30, transfer to the meeting point for a spectacular evening at the Yi Peng Lantern Festival.
The Yi Peng Lantern Festival, also called Yee Peng, originates from the Lanna culture of Northern Thailand. Yi Peng means "the second full moon" of the Lanna lunar calendar. This religious event includes displaying various types of lanterns in front of homes as offerings to the Buddha, including sky lanterns to honor celestial deities.
The highlight of Yi Peng is the release of sky lanterns, believed to carry away misfortunes and open the way to good luck and a bright future. During the festival, candles illuminate the old city of Chiang Mai, creating a warm and magical atmosphere.
Standard Ticket Includes:
